Your opinion is important to us!

General Information

Uzbekistan Airways strives to develop not only as a reliable air carrier but also as a responsible company that cares about the environment, people, and quality of governance. That is why the Company is implementing the ESG approach – an international concept for assessing a company across three areas:

  • E (Environmental) – environmental responsibility: fuel and energy use, emissions management, waste handling, implementation of environmentally efficient technologies;
  • S (Social) – social responsibility: ensuring safe and fair working conditions, staff development, customer service quality, interaction with suppliers and local communities;
  • G (Governance) – corporate governance: transparency and accountability of management decisions, compliance with business ethics, anti-corruption practices, and an effective risk management system.

The Company is conducting this survey to understand the opinions of its external partners and determine which sustainability topics are most important for the company and society as a whole.

Purpose of the survey – to determine:

  • How the activities of Uzbekistan Airways affect the environment, society, and governance (ESG factors).
  • How ESG factors can influence the company itself — its resilience, business reputation, and financial performance.

There are no right or wrong answers. The Company is interested in your perspective.

Assessment Approach

For each topic, you are asked to answer two short questions:

  1. To what extent, in your opinion, does the company's activity affect the environment and society on this topic?
    (Rate on a scale from 1 – “no impact” to 5 – “very strong impact”)
  2. To what extent, in your opinion, can this topic affect the company itself – its operations, financial performance, and reputation?
    (Rate on a scale from 1 – “no impact” to 5 – “very strong impact”)

Rating scale:

5 – Very strong impact (critically important)

4 – Strong impact (high importance)

3 – Moderate impact (medium importance)

2 – Weak impact (low importance)

1 – No impact (not significant)

Environmental Aspect

The environmental aspect includes five material topics: climate change, air quality, energy efficiency, waste management, sustainable packaging management.

Climate Change

Climate change is associated with rising greenhouse gas emissions. In aviation, their main source is the use of jet fuel. This leads to growing environmental requirements and costs, so companies increasingly adopt measures and technologies to reduce GHG emissions and make flights more environmentally friendly.

Air Quality

Air quality affects health, ecosystem conditions, and the operational stability of the company. Pollution from aviation and ground equipment affects well-being, harms ecosystems, and leads to regulatory sanctions, complaints, and additional costs. Measures aimed at emission reduction (cleaner fuel, equipment upgrades, control systems) reduce these risks, improve conditions for passengers and staff, optimize costs, and strengthen the carrier’s reputation.

Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency reflects how rationally the company uses fuel and energy. Low efficiency leads to resource overuse, rising costs, and higher emissions, reducing profitability and business sustainability. Implementing modern technologies, upgrading equipment, and optimizing routes reduce expenses, environmental impact, and dependence on fuel price fluctuations.

Waste Management

Waste management in aviation includes collection, storage, transport, disposal, and recycling of waste, including technical fluids, oils, aircraft and ground service waste, as well as onboard and sanitary waste. Improper handling can lead to soil, water, and air pollution, fines, and reputational risks. A well-built waste management system reduces environmental burden, optimizes costs, and demonstrates responsible environmental performance.

Packaging Materials

Use of packaging materials onboard and in ground handling directly affects waste volumes and environmental pressure. Excessive single-use or non-recyclable packaging increases waste, disposal costs, and reputational risks amid growing attention to responsible consumption. Optimization and transition to recyclable/multi-use solutions reduce environmental impact and demonstrate commitment to sustainable practices.

Social Aspect

Includes six material topics: human rights, customer satisfaction, employee health and well-being, occupational safety and flight safety, training and staff retention, socio-economic contribution.

Human Rights

Includes respect for the dignity and rights of all employees, passengers, partners, and communities; preventing discrimination, forced or child labor; and avoiding benefits from human rights violations. This is crucial in organizing labor relations, services for passengers with reduced mobility, and supplier interactions. Non-compliance may lead to complaints, lawsuits, and penalties, while responsible treatment strengthens reputation and reduces risks.
