Animals have been transported by air since the 1930s. In the modern world, the transportation of live animals by air is considered the most humane and feasible method of transportation over long distances.

What is a "cargo with live animals"?

The definition of "cargo with live animals" includes freight shipments containing live birds, mammals, fish, reptiles, insects, crustaceans, amphibians, also samples of laboratory live animals of all species above.

Live animals are accepted for transportation only with the necessarily providing of the following documents:

- Passport data of the Shipper and Сonsignee

- Medical certificate (original) (Veterinary authority of the country of departure)

- Permission to import at the destination (Veterinary Authority of the country of destination)

- Veterinary certificate (Veterinary authority of the country of departure) 

In addition, species of animals, additional documents are required, such as the international passport of the sent animal, microchip number, and vaccination card (original).

Only healthy animals capable of transferring transportation to their final destination are accepted for transportation.

If the animals are pregnant or have given birth in the last 48 hours prior to the acceptance of the cargo for transportation, the shipper must declare this. Pregnant mammals should not be accepted for carriage without a veterinary certificate attesting that the animals are capable of withstanding the carriage and that there is no risk of childbirth during carriage.

For the successful transportation of animals, environmental conditions, in particular, temperature conditions, are of great importance. In addition, animals must be protected from adverse weather conditions such as excessive sunlight, bright light, noise and drafts. Therefore, before sending live animals, it is necessary to provide written recommendations on the temperature regime during cargo handling.

«Uzbekistan Airways» JSC is not responsible for any loss, damage or expenses caused by natural death or injury of an animal resulting from the condition, disposition or habits of the animal itself or other animals transported together (biting, kicking, butting, strangulation, pecking, etc.), as well as arising from defective packaging of the animal, or due to the inability of the animal to withstand changes in the environment when transported by air.

«Uzbekistan Airways» JSC is not responsible for the death or injury of persons accompanying the animal, the cause of which was the condition, behavior or disposition of the animals.

Almost all countries have their own laws governing the import and / or export of animals. The shipper is responsible for complying with the requirements of such laws.
